Man rescued from river near downtown

The San Antonio River, downtown, is like a few feet deep, where this nut fell in all of 4 feet.

Man rescued from river near downtown

Firefighters found the man in about four feet of water along the River Walk near McCullough Avenue and North St. Mary's Street.

A passerby heard the man calling for help shortly before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, then called 911.

Firefighters said the 27-year-old man was not able to tell them how he ended up in the water, and they were not sure why he wasn't able to climb out on his own. They said they weren't sure if his confusion was due to injury or, perhaps intoxication.

LOL. Something like this happened locally maybe ten years ago. The man was running from the police, ended up in the river, and then demanded the police chasing him come in and save him because his boots were stuck in the mud preventing him from continuing to flee. They refused, instead calling in the fire department water rescue unit. He then tried suing the police for refusing to save him. The case was dismissed almost from the beginning.
